The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival has set to honor veteran Iranian filmmaker Mohammad-Ali Najafi with a lifetime achievement award
The festival will hold the honoring ceremonial for Najafi and some other artists (the names to be announced) during the festival, the organizers announced on Saturday.
Born in Isfahan, Najafi, 72, did his master’s degree in urban construction and architecture at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
He directed his first feature film in 1979 and has made a number of short, feature and documentary films as well as TV series, including ‘Athar’s War’, ‘Report of a Murder’, ‘Taher’s Love’ and ‘Zagros’.
Najafi directed the popular historical TV series ‘Sarbedaran’ in 1983. He has also played in the historical series ‘In the Wind’s Eye’ and ‘The Mystery of the Shah’.
Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival is slated for February 1-11, 2018, in Tehran.
